Born in South African, my career in the hospitality industry started in Ireland in 2000. Working in a hotel in Co. Kildare and studying Hospitality Management part-time at DIT College in Dublin. After I finished my 3-year studies I decided to further my international career. And what better way to do it, than working on a cruise ship. I started working for Silversea Cruises in January 2004. I enjoyed the next 2 years traveling. Being exposed to cultures from all around the world, an extremely pressured work environment and long hours. But what an experience!
I was Maitre’d of the ‘Le Champagne’ Restaurant onboard this exquisite cruise liner. Le Champagne features a bespoke menu by top chefs and is the highest expression of excellence of French dining. Le Champagne echoes the traditions and cultures embedded in the French gastronomic past while respecting its bright culinary future.
Upon my return to South Africa, I was service lecturer at Prue Leith Chefs Academy. I then continued to expand my expertise by managing a few 5* establishments within the Relais & Chateaux portfolio. In 2011 I became a member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and was awarded the ‘Professionel de la Table’ ribbon.
In 2012 I left hotels to try a new avenue, corporate catering. Following my dream, I started my own business in 2019, within this industry I have such a great passion for.
Hospitality, the business of welcoming people!
I write the blog to share my experiences and my passion.
