Next time you are in the shops, look out for the PURA soda fridge. A local product launched in the Western Cape in 2015.
Anything that’s made with too much sugar isn’t good for you. PURA Soda, a category first, contains much less sugar than other soft drinks, juices, and smoothies out there. Let’s put it into perspective. The maximum recommended amount of added sugars to be included in your diet on a daily basis is 9 teaspoons (37.5 grams) for men and 6 teaspoons (25 grams) for women. A 330ml can of PURA Soda contains only 2.5 teaspoons (9 grams), which equals to 65 calories. Compare this to your 9 teaspoons of sugar in a 300ml can of coke. It’s easy to see which one will be the better choice! We know it’s not always easy having to choose between a tasty drink and the healthier alternative, which is why PURA Soda’s flavour is top of its class. Not only enjoyable on its own, but mix your gin with a can of cucumber and lime PURA soda, and you have a new delicious, healthy, low-calorie alcoholic beverage.
This beverage consists of only five ingredients. Carbonated soda water, citric acid, natural flavours, sodium benzoate, and a dash of pure cane sugar to enhance the flavour. They made sure they added only the most important and needed ingredients. No more, no less.
Pura Soda’s cucumber and lime flavour were chosen as the best tasting non-alcoholic beverage at the 2019 Aurora International Taste Challenge.
They have also recently launched the reusable 500ml bottle. So not are they only looking after our health, but also after our environment.
The products are readily available at retailers across the country including, SPAR, Engen, Pick n Pay and other selected retail stores.
